VANGUARDS PLAYING COLLEGE BASEBALL
Our WHBC board would like to recognize the high achievement of two exceptional Wisconsin Heights Varsity Baseball players.
Quinn Payne - Wisconsin Heights Class of '26 and Reed Adler class of '25.
Both young men epitomize the dedication to hard work and great leadership that our club strives to instill in our young players.
Quinn recently signed to play college baseball, and study, at UW Whitewater.
Player comments from Coach Ted Severson:
Quinn Payne is a great athlete with a work ethic to match! Quinn has played multiple positions for us including Centerfield, SS, 2B, 3B, C and Pitcher.
Sophomore year he led our team with .412 BA and earned 2nd Team Capitol South Outfield
Junior Season Quinn again led our team with a .449 BA and earned a unanimous 1st Team Capitol South Outfield as well as being voted the Capitol South Player of the Year. His accolades didn't stop there as he earned 2nd Team South Central All-District OF - as well as being named the South Central District D3 Player of the Year!
A Couple memories include a game tying home run vs Belleville @ Warner Park and a go ahead home run in the top of 8th @ Waterloo.
He also went 6 for 7 w/a double off of Cambridge's Clayton Stengem (HM All District P) during the '25 season. Stengem was the best pitcher in our conference and this was Lefty vs Lefty.
We played a road game one night and he had 103 pitch performance in a win but went 0 for 4. With a JV game after that and didn’t get home til after 11. He asked to borrow a bat and tee. I told him to go home and ice and rest as we had a huge game the next day... Q went home, moved 30–40 bales of hay and then did tee work in the barn til oneish. Next day we got beat but he went 3 for 3 off Cambridge's Stengem. His desire to compete is unwavering.

Quinn's Senior season for Heights will be something to see this Spring. Please get out and support the Varsity team and cheer on Quinn Payne as he pitches, hits and plays the field in his final season.
Reed is currently entering his first season playing for Northeast Iowa Community College in Peosta, IA.
Player Comments from Coach Ted Severson:
Reed Adler is a great athlete who played multiple positions in High School, including OF, C, P, SS, 3B and 1B. Reed did whatever was asked of him to help team needs.
His accolades include:
Sophomore year he was 2nd Team Capitol South All Conference Catcher as well as Honorable Mention Catcher for the South Central All-District Team
Junior Season - 2nd Team Capitol South Utility/Pitcher
Senior Year - 1st Team Capitol South Utility/Pitcher as well as Honorable Mention Utility/Pitcher for the South Central All-District Team. Reed was also elected to play in the WBCA All-Star Classic for the South All-Stars. Only the 10th player from Wisconsin Heights to do so in its history.
Lots of memories for Reed but one that stands out was his Sophomore Year hitting a walk off 2-Out Bases loaded triple in the bottom of the 7th vs River Valley - Final Score 3 - 2. FYI they had just intentionally walked his older brother to load the bases to set up Reed's dramatic walk off triple.
Reed has been working hard on his pitching leading into the new season. He will also be playing for the Madison Mallards this summer so go support the home team and one of our recent Heights graduates.
